The Power of Intention: Using Tarot for Manifestation

Lou Julianna

Setting intentions can transform your life by helping you focus your energy on your desires and leaving out the noise. When you combine this practice with Tarot, you unleash a powerful tool for manifestation (I call it Tarotfesting). Tarot not only provides guidance but also reflects your innermost thoughts and feelings. Here are some insights into how to use Tarot effectively to manifest your desires and create a purpose-driven life filled with joy.

Understanding the Importance of Intentions

To effectively use Tarot for manifestation (or to manifest ANYTHING my friends!), it's important to understand what intentions are. Intentions are like seeds that grow into your desires. They provide direction, helping you clarify what you want to attract it into your life.

Setting strong intentions creates a clear roadmap toward your aspirations. Research shows that people who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them!! By backing these intentions with the insights from Tarot, you supercharge your manifestation potential (plus, it's honestly a lot of fun).

How Tarot Helps You Manifest

Tarot serves as a guiding force, illuminating your path toward your desires . The cards connect you with your intuition, revealing hidden aspects of yourself and your goals. Each card carries its own energy and message, allowing you to explore your subconscious more deeply.

Of course, Tarot creates a ritualistic framework that allows you to focus your thoughts and energy, amplifying your manifestation efforts. But beyond that, it can both reveal what requires your attention to release resistance or take guided action AND simply help you call in the energy of your desire. Manifesting with Tarot can include spreads (I share my favorite spreads in my course "How to Manifest by Harnessing the Power of Tarot" here) but you can also use cards of your choosing to magnify the energy you want to align with.

Steps to Setting Intentions with Tarot

Here are some practical steps to set powerful intentions using Tarot effectively.

1. Create a Sacred Space

Set up a space that promotes focus and energy work. Choose a quiet area where you won’t be disturbed. Consider lighting candles, burning incense, or playing soft music to create an inviting atmosphere.

Make this space comforting and sacred. This area will be the foundation for your intention-setting using Tarot.

If you don't have a lot of space, it can really just be a tiny corner dedicated to your vision like your night stand or a small shelf. You can start with what you got and where you are, always!

Like everything else here, this is optional but beneficial. You can manifest without any tools, and I say that with ease as someone who teaches and practices Tarot. Rituals amplify your focus, that's where the magic is. And like I said before, it's fun. And fun puts your right on track to alignment. Don't take it too seriously, you CAN'T mess it up as long your intentions are in the right place. the more fun you have while being focused, the faster and the better you manifest.

2. Ground Yourself

Ground yourself before you begin. Engage in deep breathing, meditate, or visualize roots extending from your feet into the ground. Grounding helps you center your energy and strengthens your connection to your intentions.

Grounding clears your mind and heart, making it easier to connect with your desires and the Tarot cards.

Set the vibe by creating a space that feels GOOD to you no matter how big or small.

3. Get Clear with Your Intentions

Take time to define your intentions clearly. What do you truly want to manifest? This is a crucial step. Go very specific if you can without activating resistance. Keep it more general and about the feelings if previous setbacks could get in the way of your vibe.

Write down your intentions using positive phrasing, as if they are already happening. For instance, instead of saying, “I want to travel more,” write, “I am exploring new places and experiencing diverse cultures, I love the new smells and sights. I love talking to new people..." (get in the vibe!)

As you articulate your intentions, focus on the emotions they evoke. What will achieving these goals feel like? This emotional connection amplifies your intention-setting. Spend some time focusing on the feelings that emerge as you stay with your intention and vision.

4. Put Your Tarot Deck to Work

Choose a Tarot deck that resonates with you. As you know, each deck has its own energy: select one that you connect with to enhance your experience. It can be a fun one or a classic deck. Choose one that feels familiar and safe.

Now you have two options. You may do a specific spread for manifesting (Oh, I also have options in my eBook How to Manifest the Life You Want with Tarot here and in the course - Promise I'll try and add a couple free spreads on the blog ASAP as well). Or, you can pick a card or combo (no more that two is my recommendation) and use this card to visualize further.

For example, if you're manifesting love, pick a card that symbolises the love you want to feel. For example if you want a new man to come into your life, focus on his qualities and how you feel around him and pick a card like the King of Cups that will now represent him. Use this card as a point of focus as often as you want. Tape it above your desk, leave it out on a table so you often catches a glimpse of it as the day goes by. This will help you easily get back to the exact feeling you've been aligning with while setting your intention, making you more and more of a match for your desire.

Another example: If you're manifesting a new business, consider the Ace of Pentacles and the Magician. Do the same thing as above but with this combo.

Below is a list of cards I suggest you can use to set your intentions and feel the feeling of your desire:

5. Cards for Your Manifestation

Below is a list of cards you can use to set your intentions and feel the feeling of your desire. These are my favorite picks but you can choose what speaks to YOU:

Tarot cards to manifest Love:

Ace of Cups

King of Cups (to manifest a man)

Queen of Cups (to manifest a woman)

Knight of Cups (for the return of a specific person)

Two of Cups

Tarot cards to manifest Money:

Ace of Pentacles

Six of Pentacles (when you need some extra help)

Ace of Cups (abundance and flow)

Nine of Pentacles

Ten of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles (to visualize yourself as a wealthy woman)

King of Pentacles (to visualize yourself as a wealthy man)

Tarot cards to manifest Healing & Growth

Ace of Cups (not my fault if it works for so many beautiful things ✨)

The Star

Temperance

The Sun

Three of Cups

6. End Your Session with Gratitude

When finished, express gratitude to the Tarot for its guidance and help. Ground yourself again by visualizing your intentions being planted in the universe, ready to flourish. You can leave your chosen cards out in the open for days or weeks, there's no expiration date on your manifestation.

I like to keep a card out for a few days, 3-7 days in average, and then I put it back into the deck and go on about my business (you don't want to become obsessive as that is a guaranteed way to create resistance.)

Common Challenges in Intention-Setting (and how to SLAY them)

Setting effective intentions can be rewarding, but it comes with challenges when those ugly little monsters show up. I wanted to round them up and remind you that you are always bigger and stronger than them!

Self-Doubt

Self-doubt is a frequent obstacle. You may question whether your desires are achievable or if you deserve them. My favorite cure for that? I literally just speak one word out loud and with all my authority: BULL SHIT! That's right. You deserve everything you desire. Period. Always. Forever. Self-doubt is not invited to your session.

More seriously: Acknowledge that your dreams are valid. Recognizing and embracing your desires is a vital part of your manifesting journey, sometimes, that requires some serious healing. But you can start right now... by yelling BULL SHIT at every little monster crawling around and wasting your time. You're divine, you're perfect. You're here for a reason. Okay?

Lack of Clarity

A lack of clarity can make it hard to set meaningful intentions. Spend time exploring your desires. Journaling about your dreams can help clear the fog and reveal deeper insights. Trust your intuition and give yourself time to process your thoughts.

You may also manifest generally by focusing on how you want to feel. You may not know if you want a house or a car right now. But how do you want to feel in your material life? Do you want a serious relationship, marriage or a fling? Not sure? Then manifest clarity first by slowly exploring what feelings hit the right spot. Remember, you can always fine tune and change your mind.

Resistance to Change

Fear of change can be daunting, especially when it requires stepping outside your comfort zone. Recognize this resistance as normal. Remember that personal growth often encompasses discomfort. Now this is super important because too often we block ourselves from receiving what we want because of one small aspect we fear may come with the full realization of what we've asked for.

Embracing Your Journey

Incorporating Tarot into your intention-setting process will absolutely supercharge your ability to manifest what you desire. I've been doing it for years and it's done wonders for me. It's also improved my relationship with Tarot, which I have always seen as an ally. Now it's literally my manifesting sidekick.

And remember: With clear intentions and focused energy, you can ABSOLUTELY attract what you desire into reality. You got this one beautiful life. Make it count. Accept what's yours, let it in. And EMBRACE your full power.
